My iPod likes funky 45s

I’ve heard rumors in the past few months that iPod’s shuffle technology can sometimes seem to have a mind of its own. Mine most definitely has a preference for WeFunk.

My 20GB Click Wheel has about 9GB of music inside it’s bowels. About 300MB (roughly 3%) of that is filled by six WeFunk archived shows, each weighing in at around 55MB. But without fail that ‘Shuffle Songs’ button will serve up a WeFunk show within the first 10 or 20 songs, and often it’ll serve up two.

Perhaps iPod gives weight to tracks of a longer length? Either way, choosing 6 tracks over 1500 is no coincidence in my book.

My iPod has got soul.

Theories abound as to how the Apple shuffle feature works. I really don’t think it weighs longer songs higher, I think your iPod just likes WeFunk… for now. It’s a funky iPod.

It’s music taste will grow after a while. Mine likes certain artists/genres for a while then it’ll move on and have a new favorite for a month or so.

They do have souls.

Mike
