Spam I. Am

Everyone knows that spam sucks, but I’d like to take a moment and reflect on the rare unexpected pleasures of spam (aside from learning how I can ëñ£4rg3 mÿ p€ñ1$).

I recently had a change of heart with regards to one very specific type of email spam. At first glance, these spam messages look pretty similar to most junk email. However, these nondescript emails appear nestled within my junk mail folder with one distinct difference: the sender’s name is made up of two random English words and a middle initial, creating a steady stream of interestingly-named strangers.

The end result was a daily dose of fictional friends with whom to share my morning tea as I first sort through my inbox pile. For months, I found myself actually looking forward to meeting each day’s new creations.

“Good morning, Elephants S. Overdue!”

“How are you today, Threescores O. Trustfulness?”

Then one day it unexpectedly stopped. Most likely it was just a mail server upgrade, but I can’t help feeling a bit alone now while sorting through my email. In any event, my morning inbox is now almost completely spamfriend-free. So in memoriam, here’s a list of my few remaining trapped-in-the-spam-filter friends:
